Posted 1/2/14:

Hello,

A good friend of my father’s, Bobby Cooper, was killed in Korea. They were both from Montana, in the 2ID, and as I remember, light 30 machine-gunners. My father has passed away, however as I recall, he told me Bobby was killed defending a hill that was overrun. Can anyone provide me any additional information, or point me to where I can get more details?

Thank you,

Posted 12/03/13: My name is Mark Tipton.   I was station at Camp Casey Korea from August 1999 to November 2000 with the 1/503rd Infantry.   I have been searching for any of my military brothers that were with me during that time.  I have found absolutely nobody.

I have been to multiple sites on Facebook and on the Internet.

I do not know what is going on and  I’m at the point of being so frustrated that I’m about ready to quit searching.

Any help would be very appreciative. You can contact me at tipton1@aol.com or facebook me at Mark Tipton thank you very much.

  5. Looking for any information related to 2nd Signal Co. with 2ID in WWII from landing on Omaha Beach through Battle of Bulge and end of war in Pilsen, Chek. My 92 year old father in law. Sgt. C.E. Dwyer, then of Silex, MO, served with the Co., receiving Distinguished Unit Citation for first 4 days of Battle of the Bulge and five campaign ribbons. Trying to learn more about his heroic and historic journey. He doesn’t get around too well now but always has his 2ID “Second to None” cap on! Email: san826@sbcglobal.net.

    1. Pat,

My dad referred to a book that I never read, said there was a lot of information about his unit, “Company Commander” by Charles MacDonald. I ordered a copy today. My father passed away a few years ago, he never talked much about the war, like so many. The only thing he ever said was, “I should have been killed at least three different times. My dad and I were never close.

      Respectfully,

    1. Bill,

I had asked my father for a picture of my uncle and grandfather for a Memorial Day project for work today. My father didn’t have picture of my grandfather from his service in WWI. He did have several from my uncle in WWII and Korea. One of the Korean photos was of your father. It appears they both served in the Med Corp together. Rob Huber
